This photo says so much to me. To most everyone else, it’s probably just a pic of two (extremely good looking 🤣🤣🤣) people dressed up for some event, cheesing really hard for the camera. . . . But to me, this is a picture of how far we’ve come. Of two small business owners invited to The Cornerstone Awards in Wilmington by The Delaware Restaurant Association - and asked to be a part of their INSPIRING ASS PRESENTATION VIDEOS as well as tell our One Coastal story on a stage in front of the whole damn place (that would be me not Scott, y’all know how he feels about the spotlight 🙈). This is a pic of two people who, quite frankly, couldn’t have afforded tickets to this event 5 years ago (nor found the time to attend between the years of 20-hour workdays) but this year made that shit happen for ourselves AND our passionate | hard working | no-one-deserves-it-more-than-you-guys team. . . . To y’all, this may just look like parent’s night out. . . . But to me it looks like success. . . . . Pies with braided crusts are magical and all...but this little hand? This little hand is everything. ❤️. . . This little hand makes me forget about dirty hair, the mess that reigns supreme in my kitchen right now because #piepractice, and the laundry that perpetually isn’t folded (laundry, get a life). ✨. . . This little hand helps me see that the world, my world, is so much bigger than I thought. And helps me remember that I don’t have to do all the things, all the time. That there are people in our corner, in our village, and in our tribe that kick ass at what they do, so we can kick ass at what we do (I’m looking at you, One Coastal team 💥). Today, I was crazy. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I decided that people might want homemade pies and cakes to eat for Thanksgiving without having to actually MAKE the homemade pies and cakes for Thanksgiving. 🙈 So I did some experimenting because OBVS I can’t go to all the trouble to make pies and cakes for y’all from scratch and be basic about it so I’m throwing in a little bourbon here, some dark chocolate there, maybe a braided crust or two and some special lattice work...all the while I’m over here having a friggin BLAST. (Could it have been the bourbon? Maybe.) . . . To summarize 👉🏻 The full menu of available Thanksgiving desserts will be up for pre-order next week (with pictures so ya know what you’re in for...and how it will look prior to you secretly sneaking a bite before your guests arrive). I’m so so so so pumped to do this again this year (baking is SO my love language!)...so take some stress off your plate (and put it on mine 🤣🤣🤣) and treat yo’self! Your guests will thank you! 🙌🏻🍂🍁✨ (PS see the whole pie - before and after baking - in stories tomorrow! Right now it’s past my bedtime 🤭). . . . One minute you’re sneaking candy corns into your pockets from the jar at work and the next there’s a small girl in Christmas jammies chillin on your (new, and super amazing) couch. 🎄. . . . Granted, I’ve spent the past 3 weeks on a Pinterest bender trying to make Eamer’s party “just so”...but now that it’s over I’m pretty much resigned to the fact that the next time I turn around I’ll be hoarding conversation hearts and Hershey kisses as Valentine’s Day sneaks up on us with a wink and a pat on the butt. 🙈. . . . I’m not wishing the days away, I promise, it’s more like the opposite: I’m holding on to every minute of each day with a death grip and superglue - it’s my fav season, fav weather, fav time to get gussied up for parties and to bake treats on treats on treats - and still the moments fly on by. 😭 . . . . Knowing that, and in an attempt to keep Fall from breaking up with us before we’re ready (news flash Fall: we’re NEVER ready) we’re committed at our house to waking up at 4AM each morning to really squeeze the most memories out of each day. ✨. . . ALTERNATE STORY: daylight savings got Eamer like WTF and since she can’t quite make her own breakfast yet I’m on the hook for waking up at 4AM, too. It’s a choose your own adventure kind of Insta, I’ll let you pick which version to believe 🤣 . . . . Anyway, all the details about Eamer’s crazy amazing birthday party are up on the Blog (jk...still don’t have one...still think it’s fun to say) and for real I’m already going to apologize for how much I’m going to talk about my couch in future posts (@cefurniture...y’all are everything). My muscles hurt like I just ran a marathon, there’s confetti stuck in my underclothes, I just realized I took zero photos of me with my tiny human and I’m scarfing down a couple crusts of PBJ heart-cut-out sandwiches before bed because obviously I was too busy social-butterflying to eat any of the absolutely beautiful food. 🤷🏻‍♀️ . . Anyone who knows me knows I love parties LOVE PARTIES but dang I don’t know how you event planners do it! Eamer’s day was perfection but I’m so sad that it’s over 😭 I have so much I want to say about today: the beautiful balloon garland, the “party animals”, the precious photos of Eamer and the weird garland of her in party hats...the food, the flowers, the photography, the not-smashing of the smash cake, and THE FAMILY that made it all just beyond. I’ll probably post again just so i can try to get the words right, because right now my brain is fried from fun-overload and I’m not even sure how/where to begin. Nothing says Friday like Mini-Horse rodeos and moccasins! 💥 . . . Orrrrr 102 degree fevers and computer problems at work. 😳 (Unrelated, although the timing, admittedly, was poor.) Little Eamer got got by those shots of hers (in an up-at-1:30AM-just-in-time-to-be-rescued-by-mama-right-before-projectile-vomming kind of way) and is FINALLY back to her usual sassy self (she pointed directly at Scott today while he was talking and said NO NO NO NO 🤣🤣🤷🏻‍♀️) but it was a long couple of nights. (Anyone notice my tired saggy eyes in stories? No? Good 🙈) Computer probs are also resolved after a few hours of phone calls, conferencing in some smart IT dudes, and a lot of black coffee. 🙏🏻. . . Confession, we did NOT go trick or treating. 🎃. . . . We did, however, get dressed up in our costume one last time, hang out with my sister and her babes, and make it back home by 5:30 to have a fire and an espresso (okay, Eamer skipped the espresso. She was, however, eyeing up Scott’s Halloween cake pop. Sorry sister, you’ll have to wait for your smash cake). 🙈 . . . We kept it simple - this year - because we know from here on out it’s game freakin’ on 🤣 not to mention I still accidentally planned the Eamer Birthday Party of my adult career soooo I’m kind of all in on that front. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️😬 . . . I have had so much fun scrolling through Insta today seeing everyone’s Halloween pics and it kind of sucked me in for 15 minutes (30 if I’m being honest with myself) when I should have been crossing things off our ever-growing list of to-do’s. What can I say? Since we don’t have TV, this is how I treat ma’self (also Rice Krispie treats....deffffffinitely treat myself there too). Keep up the good work, friends!
